A Curriculum for Excellence
Throughout Scotland, our curriculum is undergoing its greatest change in many years. At the heart of this change is the introduction of the Curriculum for Excellence. This new way of learning tries to give-
*More freedom for teachers
*More choice and opportunity for pupils
*A single curriculum that covers all ages from 3 to 18
The way it works is to challenge us to think differently about what we learn. Instead of just being told the answer to a question, we try to explore what we are learning, using four capacities. These are-
*Successful Learner - someone who is enthusiastic and open towards learning
*Confident Individual - someone with self-respect, ambition and secure values and beliefs
*Responsible Citizen - someone with respect for others and commitment to responsibility
*Effective Contributor - someone with resilience, self-reliance and an enterprising attitude
At Trinity we are-

At Trinity we are-
Successful Learner
Every year the p5s and 6s perform with Scottish Opera (see the News). We are successful learners because we have to do lots of practice to learn the words. We were also successful learners when theP6s learnt to ski at Hillend.

Confident Individual
Sometimes at our Friday assembly, we have one of the classes who stand up and tell us about what they have learnt recently. They all have to be really confident - it is quite daunting especially for the younger ones! The P7s recently entered a Young Inventors Competition and got through to the second round - that must have taken a lot of confidence!

Responsible Citizen
At Trinity we all aim to be responsible with school equipment, as we have recently recieved some new playground equipment and Mrs. Scott doesn't want it broken ( who would?!). Also, we make sure that we don't break other people's things. When P3W went to Edinburgh Zoo recently they were really well-behaved.

Effective Contributor
This year on the 4th of May we entered a Knex Challenge. We worked in pairs and did really well. For more information see the News article. When we work in groups we are effective contributors as everyone has to do a lot of work.

Everyone at Trinity works really hard. All the children work hard to learn and the adults, all the teachers, catering staff, support staff, all do their very best to give the pupils in their care the best experience of learning possible.
